HAND & WRIST QUESTIONS

Clear answers before your visit

Symptoms alone do not establish a diagnosis.

Back & neck pain information ↗
What commonly causes wrist pain?

Wrist pain can follow repetitive activity, tendon irritation, a minor injury, joint problems or other causes. The location, triggers and examination help guide assessment.

Why does my hand feel numb or tingly?

Numbness or tingling can relate to irritation or pressure affecting a nerve at the wrist, arm, neck or elsewhere. Symptoms alone do not establish a diagnosis.

What are common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome?

Possible symptoms include tingling or numbness in parts of the hand, symptoms at night and reduced grip. Similar symptoms can have other causes, so assessment is important.

Do I need an X-ray, ultrasound or nerve test?

Not automatically. Tests are considered when the history and examination suggest they may clarify the cause or change management.

Can hand or wrist pain improve without injections?

Yes. Depending on the assessment, activity changes, medication, support or splinting, exercises and rehabilitation may be appropriate. Procedures are selected options only.

When should I see a doctor?

Arrange an assessment for persistent or worsening pain, reduced grip, limited movement or continuing numbness. Seek urgent care after significant injury, for deformity, sudden weakness or new loss of sensation.
